Gaucho REC (Recreation & Exercise Classes) gives participants the opportunity to learn a new skill, fine tune an old skill, or simply stay in shape. There are no pressures, exams (aside from emergency certification classes), or grades to worry about—just relax and enjoy! Classes meet once or twice weekly throughout the whole day. Classes are open to UCSB students, faculty, staff, alumni, affiliates and community members (age restrictions apply).

Class Fees

Class fees cover salaries for instructors and some class equipment and supplies. You may need to purchase additional supplies for individual projects.

Students may attend the first class to spectate at no cost. In order to participate, students must pay for class in full or pay a $5 drop in fee to the night greeter. Drop-in fee option is only available at the first class session and will not be applied to the class fee, should you decide to continue attending. Students may not pay on a class-by-class basis.

Registration

  • ONLINE: Register online HERE
  • IN-PERSON: Register in-person at the Customer Service Center located in the UCSB Recreation Center
  • MAIL-IN: Register by mail by downloading and mailing in the Mail-In Form

Note: Online or mail-in registration is not accepted for The Wine Class or SCUBA. Mail-in registration not recommended for popular classes such as Yoga, Pilates, and Pottery, as they tend to sell out quickly and priority is given on a first-come, first-served basis.

Class Locations

Classes are located at our Recreation Facilities around UCSB's Campus (see map below). Parking passes are available in the automated machines located in the campus parking lots.
