Coach Ken Preston
 
Ken Preston has coached the UCSB Men's Volleyball Team for twenty seven years. Under his direction, UCSB has consistently placed among the top ten teams in the nation Ken Preston has produced nine 20 win seasons with the Gauchos and has over 450 wins. Ken served as an assistant coach for the United States National Team at the 2000 Sydney Olympics.

Perhaps his proudest moment came in 1988 when his Gaucho team met USC in the NCAA Finals. The Gauchos have qualified for postseason play 15 out of the last 18 years. Over the years, Ken's coaching has helped to produce 23 All-Americans and 33 All-MPSF selections. In 1990 Preston guided the Westmont College women's team to a fifth place finish at the NAIA National Tournament. The Warriors posted a 50-18 record during Ken's two years as coach. Preston has also served as head coach for Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, Wright State in Dayton, Ohio and founded the Cuesta College Women's program where he posted a 25-9 record over a two year period.

On the international coaching level, Preston skippered the U.S. Team at the 1985 World University Games in Kobe Japan. Ken Preston has been involved in volleyball camps for over 30 years and has been a part of the UC Santa Barbara Summer Volleyball Camp tradition since its inception 24 years ago.
