Trainers

Andrew Araza

The best thing about being a personal trainer is being able to share all of the great things I've learned about the human body with others. I have always had a passion for studying movement and exercise, starting young with an interest in sports and bodybuilding.
My qualifications include being a certified personal trainer through NASM and a minor in Exercise Health Science. I have also spent a year both as a student athletic trainer at UCSB, and as a Teachers Aid for Kinesiology (the study of movement).
No matter what you are trying to achieve, I will bring my passion and an integrated approach to help inspire you to move toward and beyond your goals.

Jehan Izhar

"Love your body for what it can do, not for what it looks like!"
Jehan (also known as Jay) is an ACE certified personal trainer. She graduated from UCSB in 2007 with a major in Theatre and a minor in Exercise and Sport Studies (emphasis in personal training and group fitness instruction). She spent two years as a Peer Health Intern at Student Health for a group called HEAL (Healthy Eating and Living). As an intern, she taught healthy eating and exercise behaviors to students in order to promote healthy body image and to prevent eating disorders. In Spring 2007 she was awarded the Fitness Instruction Minor of the Year award from the ESS department and she was also named Intern of the Quarter by HEAL.
As a trainer, Jehan has specialized in women's fitness
and beginning exercisers. Her workouts are specific to clients needs are are never, ever boring! She has a holistic approach to training and makes sure to incorporate all aspects of fitness: strength, balance, stability, endurance, flexibility, and most of all, FUN (because what's a great workout without a bit of laughter?)
Jehan is also a Group Fitness Instructor on campus. Make sure to look for her kickboxing and other cardio classes in the Leisure Review every quarter.

Brian Pearson

“The greatest expression of strength is lifting others up.” Throughout my career as a personal trainer, coach and Health teacher I have enjoyed helping others realize their goals. Whether it’s building their best body ever, peaking for performance, or just feeling better about themselves, I have successfully used “in the trenches” experience and current scientific knowledge to guide and motivate clients to get their goals.
My early escapade with the fitness lifestyle began in high school and matured throughout college where I began strength training and natural bodybuilding. In 1997, 1998 and 1999 I competed in the “Body For Life” competition and was a 3-time finalist. Then, from 2000, 2001, 2003 and 2004, I earned the top spot as the 4-time Santa Barbara County Power Lifting Champion.
During this time in 2000 I also realized one of my long-time goals, becoming a personal trainer. All the while I’ve been a happy husband, fortunate father of three sons and a full-time teacher just doing what I love…lifting others up!
