WILDERNESS MEDICINE

 

Wilderness and backcountry medicine differs significantly from conventional EMS and standard Red Cross courses that are oriented to the urban environment. In these courses, you will learn to deal with medical emergencies when help is miles away and dialing 911 is not an option. You will be prepared for emergency situations that involve prolonged patient care, severe environments and improvised equipment.

WILDERNESS SURVIVAL

Discover the threads connecting the teachings of our ancestors to our every day lives.Learn survival techniques that embody increased awareness while fostering our innate curiosity. Develop a better relationship with the natural environment by building and surviving in a primitive shelter, and learning to make fire by friction. Join us for a weekend unlike anything you have ever done before. Allow nature to be your ultimate teacher.

WILDERNESS FIRST AID (WFA)

Wilderness First Aid is an excellent introduction to wilderness medicine. Anyone who spends time in the outdoors owes it to themselves and their partners to take this 16-hour course. Successful completion of the course will include Wilderness First Aid and CPR certifications from Wilderness Medical Associates, which are valid for 3 years. This CPR course curriculum is consistent with current American Heart Association standards for the lay rescuer. In addition, it addresses in more detail the special concerns in a remote or wilderness setting.

WILDERNESS FIRST RESPONDER (WFR)

Wilderness First Responder is the definitive medical training course for all outdoor leaders and enthusiasts. Anyone who spends time playing or leading others in the outdoors owes it to themselves and their partners to take this 72-hour course. Successful completion of the course will include Wilderness First Responder and CPR certification card from Wilderness Medical Associates valid for 3 years. This CPR course curriculum is consistent with current American Heart Association standards at the healthcare provider level. In addition, it addresses in more detail the special concerns in a remote or wilderness setting including oxygen use and basic airway management tools.
